The locations chosen for Italy were Lecce, Torre Chianca, Parco Rauccio and the state natural reserve, WWF oasis, Le Cesine in Vernole. Here, very intense was the mingling of international cultures, local communities, artistic actions, nature, conviviality and walking experiences that involved international artists, for a rendering of the work in progress, multilingual and site-specific, designed “to provide the tools to deal with the social and economic crisis of recent years that has forced artists and cultural and creative industries to interrupt the physical mobility and the corporal interconnection between cultures, knowledge and artistic languages that are the basis of European cultural collaborations.”
“Antigone’s pride – Performing society” was produced in partnership with the Laboratory of Augmented and Virtual Reality of the Department of Engineering for Innovation at the University of Salento, the Grotowski Institute in Wroclaw (Wroclaw – Poland), the “Alicia Alonso” Dance Foundation of the University of Madrid “Rey Juan Carlos” (Madrid – Spain) and Theatro Tsi Zakynthos (Zakynthos – Greece).
The figure of Antigone is central, starting from the text “The Tomb of Antigone” by Maria Zambrano, which puts Antigone in relationship with the people who led her to decide her fate. From myth to contemporary, Antigone is a woman who chooses, decides, and carries out her own ideas.
